It's on the night of September 21, 2025.

And the boys of Litein Boys High School are eagerly waiting to watch a Premier League match between Arsenal and Man City.

But rumours claim the principal is objecting to the idea, despite this being a weekend, which is often the entertainment day.

And they start whispering among themselves that if they won't be allowed to watch the match, they'll have to take matters into their own hands.

And this means they're planning to hold a strike... Not just a casual, boring strike.

Nope!

One for the books.

They've want one dramatic strike that will be talked about for years... not due to the tragic things they'll do... but because of some of the cheekiest things you'll ever hear.

Evening comes and they learn they're not going to watch the game.

The principal doesn't want any time wasting, especially now that it is months to KCSE. He has declined the students' request to watch the game.

The boys get unhappy. Very unhappy... And decide to find an alternative form of entertainment.

As soon as darkness sets in, they switch off the school's main power supply, plunging the entire compound into darkness. And then the destruction begins as some students set fire to parts of the school, including the computer lab, library, and dormitories.

But it is what they do next that becomes the subject of folklore.

Instead of running away after the destruction, some students head straight to the school's kitchen. They decide to test their cooking skills. Others make their way into the bakery and use the ingredients they find there to cook whatever is on their minds.

Chapatis... Pancakes... Eggs... And the chicken in the fridges.

It's surely a great night for them.

Others slice open sacks of maize, pour cooking oil on the floor, and scatter sugar, pumpkins, and cabbages everywhere in the school compound.

But then there is another group that is even more explorative. They head to the school dairy section and find the cows sleeping, not caring about who denied who, or who was denied the chance to watch the EPL match.

The boys wake up the cows, milk them, and drink the milk.

As if that is not enough, some boys shepherd the cows to the pitch and start riding them like horses. They even compete to see whose cow is faster than the other's. By morning, some of the cows are so exhausted they can barely stand.

And these guys are still not done.

A group makes its way to the administration block. They hold a mock board meeting, chaired by one big guy whose gait is almost like that of the principal. In this mock meeting, they agree that watching a single football match can't hurt the school's mean score... and the meeting is dismissed.

Others head into the bursar's office, smash his safe, and allegedly take some cash and vandalize his laptops and other gadgets.

And now, the most innovative group switches on the school bus and drives their peers around the school compound... and look, they choose the newest and fanciest bus... you know the one everyone wants to board during school trips?

That one!

And they destroy the old bus because they hate it, but the administration keeps forcing them to use it during trips. They then park the new bus across the main gate to prevent police and security officers from entering.

For nearly six hours, the boys turn the school into a real-life Animal Farm. They even try to go to their nearby sister school, but by now, police officers arrive and stop them.

Dawn comes and Litein Boys looks like a ground that has hosted one of those chaotic shows and festivals that Kenyans organize.

The school dismisses them and later informs their parents that they will pay around KSh 70 million in damages. Some people believe the management is trying to exploit parents from the whole saga, but that's neither here nor there... The principal is also moved out of the school.

Up to this day, the boys still whisper to each other about that night in jest.

The night they rode and milked cows, cooked chapatis, held a board meeting, and drove the school bus...

And 96 minutes of a football match is all it took!
