Picture this:
You are a parent and you get a call from your son's school saying he has gotten a girl pregnant. You drop everything, rush to school, sit through the humiliation, and watch your son try to defend himself in front of teachers and the other child's family.
But something doesn't add up. So you take both of them to a hospital and do a pregnancy test.
It comes back negative.
There is no pregnancy. There never was. The whole thing was a lie.
Your son, Davis Mwangi, is 18 years old and a candidate at Booshine Academy in Mwiki. He has a girlfriend in the same school. And unknown to him, the principal, Mr. Titus Okanda, is also interested in her. That is his only crime.
After the pregnancy lie falls apart, you expect the matter to end there. It doesn't.
Mr. Okanda and five teachers pull Davis and his girlfriend into the staffroom. The principal picks up a whip. The teachers grab pipes. They beat the boy while his girlfriend is forced to watch. Between blows, they turn to her and ask, is this the boy you are counting on to protect you? Look at him. He cannot even protect himself against us.
Davis leaves that staffroom with a serious eye injury and severe back pain.
He ends up in hospital.
When you call to check on him, he is cold and distant. He tells you he has money and you can go wherever you want. He is not the same boy who walked into that school that morning.
This is what a principal and five teachers at Booshine Academy in Mwiki did to someone's son over a girl the principal wanted for himself, and the mom now wants justice.
